Think of pretty much any music video you\u2019ve loved in the past few years, and odds are director Melina Matsoukas is behind it. We\u2019re talking Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cFormation<\/a>,\u201d Rihanna\u2019s \u201cWe Found Love<\/a>\u201d (for which she was the first female director ever to win a Grammy), Snoop Dogg\u2019s \u201cSensual Seduction<\/a>\u201d (yaaas), and Lady GaGa\u2019s \u201cJust Dance<\/a>.\u201d Matsoukas is the realest of deals, and also the coolest person you could ever hope to spend an afternoon with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But if you thought directing ground-breaking music videos would be enough for most people, you\u2019d find that \u201cmost people\u201d doesn\u2019t apply to Matsoukas. She just wrapped the forthcoming film\u00a0Queen & Slim,\u00a0<\/em>written by\u00a0Lena Waithe and James Frey, and has garnered much well-deserved praise for her work on\u00a0Insecure.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
