The artist went with brevity\u2014and irreverence\u2014in choosing the winner of a “Veil Painting” print.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s official:\u00a0Damien Hirst<\/a>\u00a0admits he\u2019s a \u201ctwat.\u201d Or, at least, that\u2019s the irreverent caption the artist has selected to win his self-staged Instagram contest<\/a>\u00a0giving away a print of one of his \u201cVeil Paintings.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve read so many replies to my dumbass competition I\u2019m losing my fucking marbles, what was I thinking having a fucking competition anyway!?\u201d the artist wrote in a comment on the original post, which has some 32,967 likes and over 10,400 comments. The photograph shows the artist in his studio, clad only in a pair of bright pink underwear, matching socks, and black crocks emblazoned \u201cDamien.\u201d The contest was announced on June 26.<\/p>\n

The winner, who goes by the username\u00a0@beigebrick<\/a>, is identified on their profile picture as a UK-based visual artist. \u201cIn the end I had to pick it as the winner because of its simplicity,\u201d Hirst admitted. \u201cAnd because if you can\u2019t laugh at yourself you\u2019re fucked.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of press time, @beigebrick had not commented on the victory, or on whether or not they are a fan of Hirst.<\/p>\n
