Clinton, the deeply influential forefather of funk (and all its winding genre successors), formed Parliament in the early \u201870s as part of his famed Parliament-Funkadelic collective. The group teased this release earlier in the year with a single called \u201cI\u2019m Gon Make U Sick O\u2019Me,\u201d but their most recent LP was 1980\u2019s <i>Trombipulation<\/i>. <i>Medicaid Fraud Dogg<\/i>, as the title might suggest, examines the shortcomings of America\u2019s modern medical institutions\u2014in the most funky way possible.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the groovy maestro also <a class=\"ovr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pastemagazine.com\/articles\/2018\/04\/legendary-funk-musician-george-clinton-is-retiring.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> he\u2019ll be retiring from touring. But don\u2019t worry, Clinton is still currently on the road as part of the international Parliament-Funkadelic 2018 tour, the dates for which you can find on the Parliament <a class=\"ovr\" href=\"http:\/\/georgeclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. This weekend\u2019s May 26 show at the famous Greek Theatre in L.A. will kick off the final leg of Clinton\u2019s touring excursions, wrapping up a year from now in May 2019, according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>Much of today\u2019s hip-hop, rap R&amp;B and trap music can be traced back to sounds defined by the legendary Clinton and his groovy cooperatives. As he recently pointed out in an \u201cAsk Me Anything\u201d Reddit <a class=\"ovr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IAmA\/comments\/7qlp5b\/i_am_george_clinton_dr_funkenstein_leader_of\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thread<\/a>, he\u2019s following that funk lineage, listening to \u201c<a class=\"ovr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pastemagazine.com\/tag\/Flying+Lotus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flying Lotus<\/a>, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z\u2019s new album, Tra\u2019Zae, and all that shit coming out of Atlanta. All that trap shit.
