{"id":9058,"date":"2018-04-15T17:11:21","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T00:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/BigJimIndustries.com\/wordpress\/?p=9058"},"modified":"2018-04-15T17:11:21","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T00:11:21","slug":"worms-on-the-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2018\/04\/15\/worms-on-the-moon\/","title":{"rendered":"Worms On The Moon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2018\/04\/13\/china-plans-grow-flowers-silkworms-dark-side-moon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>from The Telegraph<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"headline__heading\">China plans to grow flowers and silkworms on the dark side of the moon<\/h1>\n<p>by\u00a0<span class=\"byline__author-name\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/authors\/neil-connor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Neil Connor<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WfwEBPtYANg\" width=\"480\" height=\"292\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>China hopes to create a &#8216;mini biosphere&#8217; on the dark side of the Moon, with flowers and silkworms sustaining each other as they grow on the lifeless lunar surface.<\/p>\n<p>The unprecedented plan to create life in outer space is the most intriguing part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">China&#8217;<\/a>s lunar probe mission later this year, and could be a major boost for dreams that humans will one day live on the Moon.<\/p>\n<p>The insects, plants, potato seeds and arabidopsis\u2014a small flowering plant belonging to the mustard family &#8211; will be taken to the Moon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2017\/06\/07\/china-prepares-moon-landing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">on board the Chang&#8217;e-4 lander and rover in December.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They will be placed in an 18cm tall bucket-like tin made from special aluminum alloy materials, together with water, a nutrient solution, and a small camera and data transmission system.<\/p>\n<p>A small tube will direct natural sunlight into the tin to help the plants and potato seeds grow.
