He was 83.<\/p>\n<p>Manson \u2013 housed at Corcoran State Prison since 1989 \u2013 died at 8:13 p.m. local time at Kern County Hospital, <a href=\"https:\/\/news.cdcr.ca.gov\/news-releases\/2017\/11\/20\/inmate-charles-manson-dies-of-natural-causes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the California Department of Corrections said in a press release early Monday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2017\/11\/15\/charles-manson-reportedly-clinging-to-life-in-california-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">He\u2019d been in failing health for months<\/a> and was first hospitalized back in January, reportedly with serious gastrointestinal problems.<\/p>\n<p>Manson \u2014 who infamously wore a swastika tattoo between his eyebrows \u2014 had spent more than 45 years in prison after being convicted of directing his \u201cManson Family\u201d clan of troubled, mostly female, followers to kill seven people in California in the summer of 1969.
