{"id":7672,"date":"2016-08-11T00:01:02","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T07:01:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/BigJimIndustries.com\/wordpress\/?p=7672"},"modified":"2016-08-10T12:36:46","modified_gmt":"2016-08-10T19:36:46","slug":"perseid-outburst-tonight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2016\/08\/11\/perseid-outburst-tonight\/","title":{"rendered":"Perseid Outburst Tonight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seti.org\/seti-institute\/news\/perseid-meteor-shower-week-may-develop-outburst-august-11th-and-12th\" target=\"_blank\"><em>from SETI<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>Perseid Meteor Shower This Week May Develop Outburst &#8211; August 11th and 12th<\/h1>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.seti.org\/sites\/default\/files\/perseids3_560px.jpg\" width=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This Thursday and Friday, there will be one of the best annual meteor showers you and your family can watch \u2013 the Perseids.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And some experts are even predicting that there might be a meteor \u201coutburst\u201d this year \u2013 where the number of shooting stars increases beyond the usual rates.<\/p>\n<p>This is a complicated year for watching the Perseid meteor shower, because the evening sky has a roughly half-lit-up moon in it, making it more difficult to catch the faint \u201cshooting stars.\u201d\u00a0 So if you can wait until the Moon sets (between midnight and 1 am), you should have better viewing in the pre-dawn darkness.\u00a0\u00a0 That\u2019s great advice for people on vacation or camping trips (and for insomniacs,) but probably not useful for those who have to get up for work!
