Startup studio pacts with Tony DiSanto’s DIGA, James Frey’s Full Fathom Five on project<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gunpowder & Sky<\/a>, the\u00a0youth-focused\u00a0studio launched by ex-Viacom exec Van Toffler<\/a> in January, has signed an exclusive deal for a film adaptation of \u201cEat, Brains, Love,\u201d a comedic zombie road-trip novel by Jeff Hart.<\/p>\n

G&S, backed by AT&T and Chernin Group\u2019s Otter Media<\/a>, is working on the project with DIGA, an independent production studio founded by former MTV executive Tony DiSanto<\/a>, and author James Frey\u2019s Full Fathom Five media and production firm.<\/p>\n

The project reunites Toffler and DiSanto, whose productions at MTV included\u00a0\u201cJersey Shore,\u201d \u201cScream,\u201d \u201cTeen Wolf\u201d and \u201cMy Super Psycho Sweet 16.\u201d\u00a0The companies said they are in talks\u00a0with potential screenwriters for \u201cEat, Brains, Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEat, Brains, Love\u201d\u00a0\u2014\u00a0the\u00a0title is a play on Elizabeth Gilbert\u2019s best-selling novel \u201cEat, Pray, Love\u201d\u00a0\u2014 is\u00a0the story of a pair of high-school sweethearts who\u00a0contract a mysterious zombie virus and devour the brains of half their senior class. They set off on a cross-country journey to discover a cure, while being pursued by a teen psychic sent by the government\u2019s top-secret Necrotic Control Division to track them down.<\/p>\n

WME negotiated the deal on behalf of Full Fathom Five. DiSanto and Full Fathom Five\u2019s\u00a0Todd Cohen brought the project to G&S.<\/p>\n
