The other day, Thomas Lannon, a curator, was riffling through the collection, trying to find some objects that might interest Shaquille O\u2019Neal, who was coming to the library that night as part of the N.Y.P.L.\u2019s conversation series to talk about his new children\u2019s book, \u201cLittle Shaq.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lannon was stumped. He\u2019d considered original Superman comics, but they\u2019re stored off-site. \u201cShaquille O\u2019Neal isn\u2019t really a scholar,\u201d Lannon said, as he wheeled two boxes into a makeshift greenroom. \u201cBut he does have a doctorate\u201d\u2014in education, and also a master\u2019s in business. One of his many nicknames is the Big Aristotle.<br \/>\nWhen Paul Holdengr\u00e4ber, the library\u2019s resident interviewer, started the series, the staff created a tradition: before each event, the curators pull objects geared to the speaker\u2019s interests. George Clinton was shown correspondence between Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg about psychedelics and jazz.
