(Photo by Hulton Archive\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>LONDON (CBSDC)<\/strong> \u2013 The man who wrote Hamlet and MacBeth may have been enjoying some Midsummer Night\u2019s Dreams.<\/p>\n<p>South African researchers examined some 17th-Century clay tobacco pipe fragments found in William Shakespeare\u2019s home town of Stratford-upon-Avon, reports <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/3990305\/william-shakespeare-cannabis-marijuana-high\/\" target=\"_blank\">Time Magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They examined 24 fragments, including some had been excavated from the site of the Bard\u2019s personal garden.<\/p>\n<p>Using advanced <a id=\"itxthook0\" class=\"itxtnewhook itxthook\" href=\"http:\/\/washington.cbslocal.com\/2015\/08\/10\/scientist-shakespeare-marijuana\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span id=\"itxthook0p\" class=\"itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap\"><span id=\"itxthook0w\" class=\"itxtrst itxtrstspan itxtnowrap itxtnewhookspan\">gas<\/span><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"itxthook0icon\" class=\"itxtrst itxtrstimg itxthookicon\" src=\"http:\/\/images.intellitxt.com\/ast\/adTypes\/icon1.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/span><\/a> chromatography methods, they detected cannabis on eight of the fragments, including four that were confirmed to dome from the garden.<\/p>\n<p>[ <a href=\"http:\/\/washington.cbslocal.com\/2015\/08\/10\/scientist-shakespeare-marijuana\/\" target=\"_blank\">click to continue reading at CBS DC<\/a> ]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>from CBS DC To Smoke Or Not To Smoke: Scientist Says William Shakespeare Used\u00a0Marijuana A South African researcher says traces of cannabis were found in fragments of clay pipes discovered in William Shakespeare\u2019s garden.
