After the nation&#8217;s EPFL Center for Space Engineering launched its first satellites (the tiny <a href=\"http:\/\/swisscube.epfl.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\">SwissCubes<\/a>) into orbit, the very next mission planned was &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2012\/02\/16\/epfls-cleanspace-one-clearing-up-cosmic-clutter-video\/\" target=\"_blank\">CleanSpace One<\/a>&#8221; to get them <em>out of<\/em> orbit. For one, the researchers didn&#8217;t want to add to the reams of existing space garbage threatening other satellites and astronauts at speeds of up to 15,000mph. But mainly, they want to test a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2015\/04\/17\/scientists-want-to-blast-space-debris-with-frickin-lasers\/\" target=\"_blank\">practical system<\/a> for cleaning space junk with relatively small targets.
