Guns n\u2019 Roses\u2019 \u201cChinese Democracy\u201d Leaker Gets FBI Visit<\/a><\/h1>\n

Last week, the Internet was rocked when California blogger Kevin Skwerl posted nine newly leaked Chinese Democracy<\/em> tracks<\/a>, including three previously unheard songs allegedly from Guns n\u2019 Roses<\/a> long-awaited album.\u00a0Skwerl \u2014 who used to work in the distribution department of Universal Music and is now a Web designer \u2014 runs the blog Antiquiet<\/a>, and says he received the tracks from \u201can anonymous online source.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yesterday Skwerl was surprised to find himself face to face with two FBI agents who paid a visit to his day job. \u201cIt was kind of an ambush,\u201d Skwerl tells Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cWhen I came back from lunch they were waiting in the lobby for me. It\u2019s a little creepy they know where I work.\u201d Two young FBI officers, who Skwerl describes as \u201cMulder and Scully types,\u201d questioned him for 15 minutes about where he got the tracks and made plans to visit his house at 7:00 a.m. this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure if they were going to come by with a warrant and trash the place, like in the movies,\u201d he says. <\/a>\u201cIt was\u00a0nothing like that.\u201d The FBI officials wanted to see the original files, but Skwerl erased them last week per instructions from Axl Rose\u2019s attorneys. Skwerl ultimately gave them second-hand files that are now widely available on the Internet.<\/p>\n

Last week Skwerl\u2019s blog crashed from the traffic flood that resulted from his controversial posting. \u201cMy host contacts me and says, \u2018What the fuck did you do?\u2019\u201d I go, \u201cUhhhh. I posted some music.\u201d He goes, \u201cWhat exactly did you post?\u201d I go, \u201cUhhhh. [Meek voice<\/em>] New Guns n\u2019 Roses.\u201d He goes, \u201cMotherfucker.\u201d Before long his cell phone rang with an unfamiliar 323 number. \u201cIt was a really cool guy from the Gn\u2019R camp that was a middle man between someone who was very angry and me. He was trying to reach out and see if I\u2019d go without a fight, which is more or less what I did.\u201d<\/p>\n
