She was 75.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Sollins first came to public attention in the 1970s as a founder of Independent Curators Incorporated, a small nonprofit organization that produced traveling art exhibitions \u2014 \u201ca museum without walls,\u201d as she called it \u2014 featuring both renowned and emerging contemporary artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"333\" data-total-count=\"965\">She and her co-founder, Nina Castelli Sundell, who <a title=\"Newspaper obituary.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/recorder\/obituary.aspx?pid=172126183\" target=\"_blank\">died<\/a> in August, curated or coordinated hundreds of exhibitions over the next two decades, introducing new ideas and revisiting old ones \u2014 Pop Art, Conceptualism, Deconstructivism \u2014 for audiences in small cities and university towns throughout the Western Hemisphere and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The project for which Ms. Sollins is best known is \u201cArt21,\u201d or\u00a0<a title=\"The PBS Art:21 website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/art21\/\" target=\"_blank\"> \u201cArt in the Twenty-First Century,\u201d<\/a> a four-part series about contemporary art and artists that PBS generally broadcasts every two years. Now in its seventh season, \u201cArt21\u201d presents artists discussing themselves and their work in an unmediated way. Ms. Sollins conducted the interviews from behind the camera but was never heard in the finished documentaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"123\" data-total-count=\"1658\">She and a partner, Susan Dowling-Griffiths, began working on the project in 1997.
