{"id":6079,"date":"2014-11-02T16:06:20","date_gmt":"2014-11-02T23:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/BigJimIndustries.com\/wordpress\/?p=6079"},"modified":"2014-11-03T10:39:14","modified_gmt":"2014-11-03T17:39:14","slug":"robot-robot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2014\/11\/02\/robot-robot\/","title":{"rendered":"Robot Robot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnainfo.com\/new-york\/20141031\/civic-center\/city-worker-gets-20-day-suspension-for-using-robot-voice-answer-phone\" target=\"_blank\"><em>from DNAinfo New York<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>City Worker Gets 20-Day Suspension for Using Robot Voice to Answer Phone<\/h1>\n<p><b>By <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnainfo.com\/new-york\/about-us\/our-team\/editorial-team\/james-fanelli\" target=\"_blank\">James Fanelli<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"vital  xs-xxxlarge\" src=\"http:\/\/assets.dnainfo.com\/generated\/photo\/2014\/10\/city-worker-suspended-for-answering-phone-robot-voice-1414693018.jpg\/larger.jpg\" alt=\" Ronald Dillon, a longtime city Health Department employee, was suspended for 20 days without pay after he repeatedly answered customer service calls in a robot voice, according to the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.\" width=\"480\" height=\"auto\" \/><i>Thinkstock<\/i><\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK CITY \u2014 A longtime city Health Department worker was suspended 20 days without pay for answering customer-service calls in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnainfo.com\/new-york\/tags\/robot\" target=\"_blank\">robot<\/a> voice.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Dillon, a computer specialist for the agency&#8217;s IT help desk who assists co-workers and the public with tech-related problems, repeatedly channeled his inner Siri by talking in a &#8220;deliberately robotic fashion&#8221; when he fielded calls \u2014 despite his boss telling him to stop, according to an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnainfo.com\/new-york\/tags\/office-of-administrative-trials-hearings\" target=\"_blank\">Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings<\/a> decision.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for the Health Department said during a disciplinary hearing before Administrative Law Judge Kara Miller that Dillon talked in the phony voice on at least five occasions between February and April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Miller&#8217;s decision says that during the hearing the Health Department played a recording of Dillon speaking to a customer in a &#8220;slow, monotone and over-enunciated manner&#8221; and saying, &#8220;You have reached the Help Desk. This is Mr. Dillon.
