But the timing was\u00a0intentionally\u00a0wry and the purchase was for real. Founder Gene\u00a0Mulvihill\u2019s son Andy has revamped and reopened Action Park as similarly to the\u00a0original as he could legally manage. So, New Yorkers, get your teenage crew together and hit this place up, if it\u2019s the last thing you ever do.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Nicknamed Accident Park and Class Action Park, the stomping grounds for teenage daredevils saw ten casualties during its prime. And five to ten patrons\u00a0went to the emergency room per day, so that Action Park literally purchased additional ambulances for the town of Vernon to accommodate the demand rise, the\u00a0<a style=\"font-style: inherit; color: #33cccc;\" href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2014\/06\/28\/the-return-of-the-worlds-most-dangerous-theme-park\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Post<\/em><\/a>\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">But Action Park was a right of passage for daring teenagers, and nostalgia haunts those lucky enough to have once called the original a summer staple. \u201cIt was by far one of the most dangerous situations I\u2019ve ever been in in my entire life,\u201d a New Jersey native recalled fondly in a\u00a0<a style=\"font-style: inherit; color: #33cccc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymotion.com\/video\/x158v48_the-most-insane-amusement-park-ever-full-length_tech\" target=\"_blank\">short documentary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">The old rides included an \u201cutterly chaotic\u201d wave pool and a ride called Cannonball Loop that was \u201calmost physically impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Of course, none can forget the Alpine Slide, frequented by\u00a0Jersey\u2019s finest.\u201cYou have to take the ski lift to get up there,\u201d former park patron Chris Gethard\u00a0recalled, \u201cso while you\u2019re on the Alpine Slide you also have people just spitting at you. And you know that\u2019s true because you tried to hit them with\u00a0<em>your\u00a0<\/em>spit on the way up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">This summer the park\u00a0will feature several of the old rides (with safety upgrades) plus a new million dollar Zero G water slide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Founder Gene\u00a0Mulvihill had his teenage kids operate the rides.\u00a0\u201cEveryone running the place seemed to be a combination of teenage and drunk or completely apathetic,\u201d a regular recalled in the documentary.
