Untold numbers gaze in awe every day at the 21,000-pound creature poised majestically in midair above the Hall of Ocean Life.<\/p>\n<p>They point and take photos. But how many visitors have pondered a basic question: What keeps the hulking whale \u201cafloat\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hadn\u2019t even considered it,\u201d said Ian Mark, 40, visiting recently from Scotland with his daughter, Sarah, 7.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text story-content\" data-para-count=\"135\" data-total-count=\"680\">\u201cI didn\u2019t think about it,\u201d said Chris Witkowski, 30, from Jacksonville, Fla. \u201cIt is so massive, so that\u2019s a good question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gianina Arana, 27, visiting from Colombia, said the room\u2019s immersive atmosphere played a role.
