He writes all his scripts out by hand and then dictates them to a typist. Ideas are jotted down in small, color-coordinated notebooks and, despite the presence of an iPad and iPhone in his life, he doesn\u2019t have email. \u201cI don\u2019t have enough time as it is to read a book or make music, or see my friends,\u201d he said. \u201cPeople don\u2019t believe me, too. They think I\u2019m just saying that because I don\u2019t want to give it to them. But no, I do not have email.\u201d<\/p>\n<p itemprop=\"articleBody\" data-para-count=\"702\" data-total-count=\"1207\">So his interest in vampires, the subject of his latest movie,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/movies.nytimes.com\/movie\/465957\/Only-Lovers-Left-Alive-Movie-\/overview\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cOnly Lovers Left Alive,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0is hardly modish: He hasn\u2019t seen \u201cTwilight\u201d or \u201cTrue Blood\u201d or read Anne Rice, but can recount the origin of\u00a0<a title=\"more on the story\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sff.net\/people\/doylemacdonald\/l_vampyr.htm\" target=\"_blank\">one of the first English vampire stories<\/a>, which dates to around 1816. His film, opening April 11, stars Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as Adam and Eve, an ur-cool bloodsucking couple whose love spans centuries and continents \u2014 he lives in crumbling Detroit; she in seedy, tangled Tangier. They\u2019re united as much by their creative and literary appetites \u2014 he\u2019s a musician, she\u2019s a reader \u2014 as by their darker urges.
