{"id":5357,"date":"2014-02-26T11:39:02","date_gmt":"2014-02-26T18:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/?p=5357"},"modified":"2014-03-03T11:44:57","modified_gmt":"2014-03-03T18:44:57","slug":"harold-ramis-gone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2014\/02\/26\/harold-ramis-gone\/","title":{"rendered":"Harold Ramis Gone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/la-sp-harold-ramis-erskine-20140227,0,1069369.column\" target=\"_blank\"><em>from The Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h1 itemprop=\"headline\">Harold Ramis put &#8216;Caddyshack&#8217; in the bag<\/h1>\n<p><strong>By Chris Erskine<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NaqGBF9nUb8\" height=\"270\" width=\"480\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>There are only a few true masterpieces that debuted in my lifetime: the &#8217;64 Mustang;\u00a0<a id=\"PECLB000738\" title=\"Sandra Bullock\" href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/topic\/entertainment\/sandra-bullock-PECLB000738.topic\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Bullock<\/a>&#8216;s perfect chin; and &#8220;Caddyshack,&#8221; whose director,\u00a0<a id=\"PECLB004169\" title=\"Harold Ramis\" href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/topic\/entertainment\/movies\/harold-ramis-PECLB004169.topic\" target=\"_blank\">Harold Ramis<\/a>, passed the other day at age 69, too damn soon, as if only on life&#8217;s 14th hole.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>And yet 1,000 laughs over par.<\/p>\n<p>From the snickering hiss of the fairway sprinklers to Rodney Dangerfield&#8217;s bug-eyed dancing, &#8220;Caddyshack&#8221; mixed all that was right about sports and movies into one great comedy overture. Though panned by critics at the time, the 1980 movie remains a classic by any measure, and the funniest sports movie of all time, hands down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;I like to say we were struck by comedy lightning,&#8221; says\u00a0<a id=\"PECLB00000060986\" title=\"Cindy Morgan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/topic\/entertainment\/cindy-morgan-PECLB00000060986.topic\" target=\"_blank\">Cindy Morgan<\/a>, who played Lacey Underall, the leggy blond who roamed the course like she owned it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was kamikaze filmmaking at its best,&#8221; she says from her home, 30 miles from the course where the movie was filmed.<\/p>\n<p>She remembers tanker trucks pumping gasoline into the fairways without knowledge of the course owners, and the three-story fireballs that followed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then they painted it green and blew it up again the next day,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>Most of all, she remembers Ramis&#8217; gentle genius, and the collaborative atmosphere he created.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I walk out one day and there&#8217;s Billy swinging at the mums,&#8221; she says of one of the film&#8217;s most memorable scenes. &#8220;It was like making home movies of my family behaving badly.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>[ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/sports\/la-sp-harold-ramis-erskine-20140227,0,1069369.column\" target=\"_blank\">click to read full article at LATimes.com<\/a> ]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>from The Los Angeles Times Harold Ramis put &#8216;Caddyshack&#8217; in the bag By Chris Erskine There are only a few true masterpieces that debuted in my lifetime: the &#8217;64 Mustang;\u00a0Sandra Bullock&#8216;s perfect chin; and &#8220;Caddyshack,&#8221; whose director,\u00a0Harold Ramis, passed the other day at age 69, too damn soon, as if only on life&#8217;s 14th hole.
