Tricky was trip hop\u2019s anti-poster boy, first making his mark with his moody sprechgesang on Massive Attack\u2019s “Blue Lines” (Virgin) in 1991.<\/em><\/p>\n

You must still run into celebrity a lot.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been next to Kanye West \u2013 I stood next to him in a club and I looked at him and he looked at me and he thought I was going to talk to him. That\u2019s never going to happen. You know, I was in a club once in New York and a guy I know came up to me and said, \u201cHey, Lenny wants to meet you.\u201d And I said, \u201cWho the fuck\u2019s Lenny?\u201d And he goes \u201cLenny Kravitz.\u201d So I said, \u2018What, Lenny Kravitz wants to meet me and he thinks I\u2019m going to get up and go over to him?\u201d I\u2019m not a fan of Lenny Kravitz. I don\u2019t want to work with him. So he comes over, says to me \u201cI love your music.\u201d Then there\u2019s a silence, because he\u2019s expecting me to say something nice back to him. Then he says to me \u201cYou should come to Miami, I have a studio there.\u201d \u201cWhy would I come to Miami? I live in New York, I have a studio here.\u201d He\u2019s like, \u2018We could do some recording together.\u201d I say to him \u201cWhy? Why would we record together?\u201d He\u2019s got no logical answer. So if he thinks I\u2019m going to do it just because he\u2019s a massive artist, and it would help me with my record sales \u2013 never going to happen.<\/p>\n
