HONOLULU \u2014\u00a0Jim Nabors<\/a>, the actor best known for playing Gomer Pyle on TV in the 1960s, has married his longtime male partner.<\/p>\n

Hawaii News Now<\/a>\u00a0reports Nabors, 82, and Stan Cadwallader, 64, traveled from their Honolulu home to Seattle to be married Jan. 15. Gay marriage became legal in Washington state last month.<\/p>\n

The couple met in 1975 when Cadwallader was a Honolulu firefighter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m 82 and he\u2019s in his 60s and so we\u2019ve been together for 38 years and I\u2019m not ashamed of people knowing, it\u2019s just that it was such a personal thing, I didn\u2019t tell anybody,\u201d Nabors said. \u201cI\u2019m very happy that I\u2019ve had a partner of 38 years and I feel very blessed. And, what can I tell you, I\u2019m just very happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
