{"id":3627,"date":"2012-10-23T19:52:04","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T02:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/index.php\/2012\/10\/evil-still-exists\/"},"modified":"2012-11-24T08:43:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-24T15:43:00","slug":"evil-still-exists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2012\/10\/23\/evil-still-exists\/","title":{"rendered":"Evil Still Exists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/news\/free\/20121023ny-top-court-says-lap-dance-isnt-art-taxable.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>from AP via AZ Central<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<h1>NY top court says lap dance isn\u2019t art, is taxable<\/h1>\n<p><em>By Michael Virtanen &#8211; Associated Press<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/evilexists.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ALBANY, N.Y. &#8211; Lap dances are taxable because they don\u2019t promote culture in a community the way ballet or other artistic endeavors do, New York\u2019s highest court concluded Tuesday in a sharply divided ruling.<\/p>\n<p>The court split 4-3, with the dissenting judges saying there\u2019s no distinction in state law between \u201chighbrow dance and lowbrow dance,\u201d so the case raises \u201csignificant constitutional problems.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was filed by Nite Moves in suburban Albany, which was arguing fees for admission to the strip club and for private dances are exempt from sales taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The court majority said taxes apply to many entertainment venues, such as amusement parks and sporting events.
