At least that&#8217;s what New York-based author James Frey is doing with his latest novel &#8220;The Final Testament of the Holy Bible.&#8221; What&#8217;s more innovative than the novel&#8217;s Bronx-living messiah character, who smokes pot and has sex with prostitutes, is that Frey appears to be side-stepping the publishing industry.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven thousand hard copies of the book will be published by the Gagosian Art Gallery, with cover art designed by the gallery&#8217;s artists and an exhibit where five artists produce work in response to the book. Frey is self-publishing the book online as well, which is a departure for a best-selling author\u2014even if the best-seller in question happens to be Frey&#8217;s 2006 book\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A_Million_Little_Pieces\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; color: #195999; text-decoration: none; word-wrap: break-word; border-width: 0px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px\">&#8220;A Million Little Pieces,&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0which was debunked as a fabricated memoir.<\/p>\n<p>Culture writer and host of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.edrants.com\/segundo\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; font-size: 13px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: transparent; color: #195999; text-decoration: none; word-wrap: break-word; border-width: 0px; padding: 0px; margin: 0px\">The Bat Segundo Show<\/a>&#8221; podcast Ed Champion is no Frey fan.
