So we are particularly delighted that on Thursday (Sept. 23rd) some 30 some-odd farmers from the greater New York foodshed will bring their art \u2014 meaning heirloom veggies from cranberry beans to Newtown Pippin apples \u2014 to Sotheby\u2019s to be offered up on the auction block to chefs, grocers and other bidders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px\">The auction is a passion project for some Sotheby\u2019s staff and farmer friends, who declare there\u2019s as much valuable works being created on nearby farms as in SoHo studios.\u00a0 The cases of auctioned produce will get eaten throughout the city in the days that follow, becoming part of the ingredients and dishes celebrated during\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ediblemanhattan.com\/20100920\/events\/eat-drink-local-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"text-decoration: none; color: #336699\">Eat Drink Local<\/a>.
