Shaq Takes Shot at Art as Curator of Show \u2019Size DOES Matter\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n

Nov. 18 (Bloomberg) —\u00a0Shaquille O\u2019Neal<\/a>, the 7\u20191\u201d all-star center with the\u00a0National Basketball Association\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Cleveland Cavaliers, has discovered that art is no slam dunk.<\/p>\n

Moonlighting for the first time as a curator, O\u2019Neal is overseeing \u201cSize DOES Matter,\u2019\u2019 an exhibition on the theme of scale in contemporary art coming in February to New York\u2019s nonprofit\u00a0Flag Art Foundation<\/a><\/p>\n

The writer\u00a0James Frey<\/a>, a collector of art by\u00a0Damien Hirst<\/a>\u00a0and others, and a partner in a contemporary New York gallery, is writing an essay for the exhibition catalog.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis won\u2019t be like another nice show at MoMA or the Met,\u2019\u2019 Frey said, referring to New York\u2019s Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. \u201cGetting Shaq, one of the largest people in the world, to curate a show about scale is really fun. He does a lot of things that are unconventional for a guy of his stature.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
