I\u2019m guessing it\u2019s not nothing. Everyone has an opinion! When I first spotted ‘\u200bA Million Little Pieces\u200b<\/a>‘ on my wife\u2019s bookshelf when we were moving in together I was like \u201cOh? Really? That book? The Oprah guy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And she was like \u201cHave you read it?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I was like \u201cNo, no idea what it\u2019s even about. Just that it\u2019s not real or whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She looked at me with disappointed eyes. Understandably so! I hadn\u2019t bothered to go below the surface. To read about it on my own. I had just soaked in some distant fumes off the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRead it,\u201d she said, and pushed the book into my hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That night I opened ‘A Million Little Pieces’ and was completely pulled into this pulsing, frenetic, endlessly climactic story of addiction, growth, and finding yourself. The book shook me. It was a masterpiece. I couldn\u2019t believe it existed. I almost felt anger towards\u00a0\u200bthe Oprah saga\u200b\u00a0because it headfaked me into thinking I knew what the book was about\u2026 when I couldn\u2019t have been more off. I went deeper into James Frey\u2019s catalogue and found myself similarly seduced by books like ‘\u200bBright Shiny Morning\u200b<\/a>‘ and ‘\u200bKaterina\u200b<\/a>,’ and am looking forward to Frey’s new novel, ‘\u200bNext To Heaven\u200b<\/a>,’ which is coming out in June 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
