High-flying execs are dropping like flies right now \u2014 at Amazon MGM, and possibly at Warner Bros. \u2014 turning what was once the most coveted job in Hollywood into one of the riskiest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it seems unlikely that any corner of the entertainment industry will be spared from being skewered during the 10-episode run of Apple TV+\u2019s new satirical comedy series\u00a0The Studio<\/a><\/em>, the primary vehicle by which its creators interrogate the current malaise afflicting Hollywood is through the eyes of a modern-day studio executive. Like any great satirist,\u00a0Seth Rogen,\u00a0who plays an angst-ridden studio chief, is dancing \u2014 at times hilariously \u2014 around an IRL question: Has there ever been a more challenging and unpleasant time to be a studio executive than today?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s undoubtedly a question that former Amazon MGM Studio chief\u00a0Jen Salke\u00a0was asking herself March 27 when she was pushed out after seven years on the job. It\u2019s also likely one that Warner Bros. Pictures co-heads\u00a0Michael De Luca\u00a0and\u00a0Pamela Abdy\u00a0are mulling as they try to swat away rumors that they might be next. And it was on the minds of the dozen current and former executives who spoke to\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0<\/em>to vent about their\u00a0profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
