Garlick\/NOIRLab\/NSF\/AURA via AP)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. \u2014 Telescopes around the world have spotted a monster radio jet streaming from a quasar dating back to the first 1 billion years of the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At double the width of our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/black-hole-milky-way-image-e482ee7b773b1053bcb296bbd9abea16\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Milky Way galaxy<\/a>, this jet of radio waves is the biggest ever detected so early in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/black-holes-merger-webb-space-telescope-cd5a78e8dfab531f2fa2454d73ad2885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">history of the universe<\/a>, astronomers reported Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Radio jets like this are not uncommon in our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/brightest-object-universe-quasar-46ecf903335014ee870ab1adcf70235b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cosmic neighborhood<\/a>.
