One Photographer\u2019s Trip Into Punk History<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Jim Saah\u2019s \u201cIn My Eyes\u201d features photos of artists ranging from Foo Fighters to Minor Threat<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nearly everyone with a foothold in punk rock has some sort of origin story. For photographer Jim Saah<\/a>, his unlikely path to the music he loved involved a certain cult film.  \u201cI discovered punk rock at, of all places, The Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/em> midnight showing at a theater in DC,\u201d  Saah tells InsideHook. \u201cThey had a DJ, and before the movie started, they played music.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young Saah found himself drawn to the music playing at the theater that night: \u201cHe was playing a lot of British stuff like The Stranglers and The Buzzcocks and maybe The Sex Pistols. And I thought, What\u2019s this music?<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And so Saah did what countless people before him did: he sought out some local experts. \u201cI went to the record store and asked, \u2018Who are these bands?\u2019 The old heads at the record store were great \u2014 they were turning me onto stuff and they told me, \u2018You know, there\u2019s local punk rock bands too,\u2019\u201d he says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy first show was a Minor Threat show,\u201d he adds. \u201cI really got into the scene \u2014 the punk scene and the hardcore punk scene.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
