{"id":131,"date":"2008-03-12T15:47:02","date_gmt":"2008-03-12T22:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/?p=131"},"modified":"2008-03-12T15:51:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-12T22:51:00","slug":"pulverizing-bloggers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bigjimindustries.com\/wordpress\/2008\/03\/12\/pulverizing-bloggers\/","title":{"rendered":"Pulverizing Bloggers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>snagged from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foliomag.com\/2008\/glamour-fires-male-blogger-after-readers-pulverize-him\" title=\"click to view full article at FolioMag.com\" target=\"_blank\">Folio<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<h1 class=\"article-title\">Glamour Fires Male Blogger After Readers \u2018Pulverize\u2019 Him<\/h1>\n<h2 class=\"article-subtitle\">Reaction forces serial-dater\u2019s removal.<\/h2>\n<p><br style=\"line-height: 10px\" \/>                                       \t\t\t                                <span class=\"author\">By  Dylan Stableford <\/span>                <span class=\"updated\"><br \/>\n03\/11\/2008<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Glamour has fired its controversial \u201cMan Needs a Date\u201d blogger after the site was inundated with comments from outraged readers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.foliomag.com\/files\/images\/mike_cherico.jpg\" alt=\"Mike Cherico\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" height=\"238\" hspace=\"15\" width=\"234\" \/>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glamour.com\/sexmen\/blogs\/alyssa\/2008\/03\/a-word-from-gla.html\" target=\"_blank\">note<\/a> posted on <a href=\"http:\/\/Glamour.com\" title=\"Why is a male blogging for Glamour\" target=\"_blank\">Glamour.com<\/a>, the magazine explained its rationale for removing the blogger, Mike Cherico, from the site: \u201cOur ultimate goal here is to open a productive conversation about men, sex, love and dating; clearly, that can&#8217;t happen when the majority of readers would like to pulverize the blogger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest swath of vitriol for the Los Angeles-based Cherico\u2014a high school English teacher who had blogged as a sort of \u201cserial-dater\u201d for Glamour since 2007\u2014seemed to stem from a post he wrote about a date, in which he says he left a woman who appeared to have a cold sore. The woman launched a blog to counter Cherico\u2019s version of the date, which was then linked to his post in the comments section.<\/p>\n<p>Her <a href=\"http:\/\/jezebel.com\/365349\/the-worst-date-ever-no-really-like-ever\" target=\"_blank\">3,000-plus word post<\/a> was eventually taken down, but not before the floodgates opened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will be a truly disappointing decision if Mike still remains as a blogger,\u201d one of the 200-plus commenters wrote. \u201cI truly and sincerely expected higher standards from this magazine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI realize that this punk is driving HUGE site hits, which equates to $$$, but at some point Conde Naste [sic] has to operate with integrity,\u201d wrote another. \u201cAt least I hope so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another summed up the call for Cherico\u2019s removal this way: \u201cHow can a magazine that promotes self-confidence and health in women keep this toxic person employed?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dust-up generated reaction overseas, where a British blogger wondered if Cherico is the \u201cmost hated blogger in the U.S.A.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For its part, Glamour says it will replace Cherico with a new blogger \u201csoon.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>snagged from Folio Glamour Fires Male Blogger After Readers \u2018Pulverize\u2019 Him Reaction forces serial-dater\u2019s removal.
