On the other side rests a real dog \u2014<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>same size, shape and even the same name as the stuffed version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You get to sit next to both of these fluffy friends and pet their fur. Guess which one will make your brain light up?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you guessed the real dog, you\u2019re right. Stuffed animals, as cute and cuddly as they may be, just don\u2019t supercharge our frontal cortex, the part of the brain overseeing how we think and feel, according to a new study\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1371\/journal.pone.0274833\" target=\"_blank\">published Wednesday in the journal PLOS ONE<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe chose to investigate the frontal cortex because this brain area is involved in several executive functions, such as attention, working memory, and problem-solving.
