Wearing his&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R9HujgiKH9Q&amp;ab_channel=AASchoolofArchitecture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">usual colourful attire<\/a>, Perry explained why he titled his series \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/b00sj965\/episodes\/player\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Playing to the gallery<\/a>\u201d, rather than \u201cSucking up to an academic elite\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Art, he warned, is in its final throes, largely thanks to its obsession with cliches. He went on to describe a group of children who were asked what they thought artists did. One child responded: \u201cThey notice things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much has changed in the art world, as well as the world at large, since those lectures were recorded. Perry\u2019s crossdressing is no longer seen as unusual.
