Hours after becoming the first nation to authorise bitcoin<\/a> as a legal tender, El Salvador<\/a>\u2019s President Nayib Bukele<\/a> instructed a state-owned geothermal electric company to plan to use geothermal energy from the country\u2019s volcanoes for mining for the cryptocurrency<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve just instructed the president of @LaGeoSV (our state-owned geothermal electric company), to put up a plan to offer facilities for bitcoin mining<\/a> with very cheap, 100% clean, 100% renewable, 0 emissions energy from our volcanos,\u201d Bukele posted on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bitcoin law was approved by a \u201csupermajority\u201d gaining 62 out of 84 possible votes within the Central American country\u2019s congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
