Racial justice and the outrage at its absence courses through the visual and emotional powerhouse that is\u00a0Queen and Slim.<\/em>\u00a0There\u2019s also the exhilaration that comes from watching talents new to movies seize their moment with a passion that pins you to your seat. Director\u00a0Melina Matsoukas<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 and artist of Greek and Afro-Cuban heritage \u2014 is best known for music videos such as\u00a0Beyonce<\/a>\u2019s \u201cFormation\u201d; she also helmed\u00a0Master of None<\/em>\u2018s brilliant \u201cThanksgiving,\u201d episode of\u00a0Master of None,\u00a0<\/em>the same episode that made screenwriter Lena Waithe the first black woman to win an Emmy for writing a comedy. Now they\u2019ve teamed up on what\u2019s being labelled \u201cthe black Bonnie and Clyde.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
