Photo: Jeff Barnard\/AP<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-bottom: 13px; padding: 0px\">Gus Van Sant is to adapt Tom Wolfe&#8217;s 1968 cult book\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/hr\/content_display\/film\/news\/e3i28df3fc9f6707d14940797ba6a66f404\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"border-collapse: collapse; background-repeat: no-repeat; text-decoration: none; color: #005689; padding: 0px; margin: 0px\">The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test<\/a>\u00a0for the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-bottom: 13px; padding: 0px\">In the book, considered one of the most famous documents of 60s drug experimentalism, Wolfe tells the story of One Flew Over the Cuckoo&#8217;s Nest author Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters as they drive across the US in a DayGlo painted school bus dubbed Furthur, taking gargantuan quantities of LSD and other psychedelic drugs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; background-repeat: no-repeat; margin-bottom: 13px; padding: 0px\">Wolfe was interested in documenting the personal and collective intellectual and quasi-religious &#8220;revelations&#8221; reached by the Pranksters on their journey.
