But a second, earlier painting is at the heart of a multi-million-dollar battle to prove its authenticity and ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>by Barbie Latza Nadeau<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/img.thedailybeast.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,d_placeholder_euli9k,h_1440,w_2560,x_0,y_0\/dpr_1.5\/c_limit,w_1044\/fl_lossy,q_auto\/v1571951430\/191024-barbie-other-mona-lisa-tease_jpgr8j\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption>Photo Illustration by The Daily Beast\/Photos Public Domain<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>ROME\u2014When the long-awaited Leonardo da Vinci exhibition celebrating the Italian master\u2019s life opened in the Louvre in Paris this week, two paintings were noticeably missing from the exhibit hall\u2014and they are both of the same woman.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being one of Leonardo\u2019s most famous works, the Louvre decided not to relocate the \u201cMona Lisa\u201d from her recently renovated viewing room to the exhibit space created to mark the 500th anniversary of the artist\u2019s death.
